Marfrig was founded in 2000 and has since grown into a global leader in hamburger production and one of the largest companies in the oversized protein sector in terms of capacity. The company produces high-quality, animal protein-based food products, primarily of oversized origin, and a wide range of ready-to-eat products such as frozen vegetables, lamb, fish, and sauces.

Marfrig is one of the most internationalized and diversified food companies, with products sold in more than 100 countries. The company has approximately 30,000 employees in 21 beef production units and 10 distribution and commercial centers, spread across four continents.

In addition, Marfrig stands out with the production and sale of plant-based products from Brazil. It is the first company in Brazil to operate on a commercial scale in this niche for the foodservice sector. In this activity, it holds an exclusive agreement with the American company Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), which founded PlantPlus Foods in 2020. This is the result of the joint venture between the two companies, whereby PlantPlus Foods manufactures and sells plant-based products through retail and foodservice chains in South and North America.
